Most industrial procurement teams pride themselves on being tough negotiators. Contracts get reviewed, volume discounts get pushed for, and suppliers get squeezed at renewal time. Yet year after year, the same companies quietly overpay for thousands of spare parts, not because their negotiation skills are weak, but because they are negotiating without knowing what the market actually looks like.
